Our Story

Started with a question.
Built into a conviction.

Patona was founded in 2018 by Michael Salleo and Josh McGrath — two operators who'd spent years building and exiting enterprise technology companies, and kept seeing the same problem: managed services was stuck in the past.

Most providers were still running playbooks written a decade earlier. Meanwhile, AI and data had already transformed how the best software companies operated. We asked ourselves: what would a managed services provider look like if it was built from scratch with an AI-first, data-led mindset?

We had something most competitors didn't — we'd already built and scaled an analytics platform globally. We knew what was possible. So we built Patona to prove it.

Between them, Michael and Josh have founded, scaled and exited multiple technology companies — including one acquired by an ASX-listed services company and another backed by Insight Partners. They bring together deep technical product expertise and enterprise delivery experience at every scale.

Michael Salleo
Co-founder & CTO

Michael is a technologist at heart — with a career spent building software products and leading engineering organisations from early stage through to global scale. He's held executive roles across multiple software companies, with particular depth in AI, data platforms and cloud-native architecture.

His background building and scaling an analytics platform gave Patona its analytical DNA — the belief that data should sit at the centre of how managed services are delivered, not bolted on as an afterthought.

Josh McGrath
Co-founder & CEO

Josh brings deep enterprise delivery experience — having led large-scale technology engagements across some of Australia's most complex organisations, as well as co-founding and scaling technology businesses.

His experience spans both sides of the table: as a technology leader inside large Australian businesses, and as a founder building services and software organisations from the ground up. That dual perspective shapes how Patona thinks about client relationships and delivery.

We built an analytics platform before we built a services company. Every engagement is instrumented with data — so we can show clients exactly what's happening, not just tell them.
Founders still in the room
Patona is founder-led and privately owned. Michael and Josh are still actively involved in client relationships and delivery — you're not handed off to account managers after you sign.
Onshore leadership, offshore scale
All account management and executive oversight sits in Australia. Primary delivery is from our centre in Pune, with expansion to the Philippines in 2025 — quality and value without compromise.
